For more than 25 years, Minnesota Oncology has defined a new standard of care in the Twin Cities. Our independent, community-based model of care means that patient-centered, evidence-based treatment is closer than ever.

As the Twin Cities’ largest and most experienced cancer and blood disorders treatment provider, we know that treating cancer and blood disorders calls for more than compassion. It means giving our patients access to more than 100 cancer care experts, evidence-based treatment paths, 14 close-to-home locations and comprehensive services to support the whole person.

REQUEST APPOINTMENT

Our Patient Service Representative will assist you in setting up your appointment. Our priority is to get new patients into their first appointments within 48 hours.

The information we will ask for includes:

  • Your basic information: name, address, phone, etc.
  • Your diagnosis
  • Your referring provider and primary care information

We will also discuss with you the necessary paperwork and what you need to bring to your first appointment.

What you need to do before your appointment:

  • Your insurance cards
  • A list of all medications that you are currently taking (including over-the-counter remedies, vitamins and herbal supplements)
  • Your completed paperwork
  • A release of information (if needed)

You may receive a phone call from your Nurse Care Coordinator prior to your appointment to ensure you have what you need and to ask if you have any questions.

Your first appointment:

       Check-in:

  • Our staff will be making copies of your insurance cards/making sure you have all the paperwork needed and will alert your care team you have arrived

        Meet your Nurse Care Coordinator:

  • Your Nurse Care Coordinator will visit with you, review your medical history, and obtain any missing information that may be needed prior to seeing your physician.

        Meet your physician:

  • Your physician will review your health history, your diagnosis records, and make a plan with you based on your needs.  You will be asked to complete a “Survey from your Healthcare Provider” and “NCCN Distress Thermometer and Problem list”. During your first appointment, labs or procedures may be performed and additional testing may be scheduled. A return visit may also be scheduled at this time.

        Scheduling:

  • After your physician makes a treatment plan you will meet with a scheduler if any additional tests or follow-up visits are needed. 

        Laboratory:

  • Your physician may ask for you to have labs drawn prior to leaving. 

        Support Services:

After your appointment:

  • If you need to reschedule an appointment, please don’t hesitate to call the scheduling team at 651.414.3150.
  • If you have any questions about your visit or about your diagnosis,  please contact your Nurse Care Coordinator. If they are unavailable, a message will be taken and your nurse will call you back as soon as possible. If needed, they will talk to your physician and let you know what next steps.
  • If you need a prescription refill, please contact your pharmacy.
