How does the membership benefit me as a patient?

Your doctor has access to Mayo Clinic’s world-leading knowledge and expertise – whenever you need it – to help confirm or develop a treatment plan for you. You can experience additional confidence while staying close to home.

Does this mean Minnesota Oncology has been purchased by Mayo Clinic?

No. This membership is not an acquisition or merger. Minnesota Oncology remains an independent, community-based practice but now with expanded resources from Mayo Clinic.

Does this mean I'll automatically be referred to Mayo Clinic for more complex care?

Your doctor has access to Mayo’s research, diagnostic and treatment resources so they can provide more of your care locally, reducing unnecessary travel to other providers. There is no obligation for your doctor to refer patients to Mayo Clinic. As always, your Minnesota Oncology physician will discuss the options with you to get the best care that you need.

Can I request a consult or second opinion with Mayo Clinic?
