MN Oncology Welcomes Gynecologic Oncologist and Surgeon Lori Weinberg, MD to Coon Rapids Clinic

{image_1}COON RAPIDS, MN (April 2019) – Minnesota Oncology is pleased to introduce our newest physician, Lori Weinberg, MD. Dr. Weinberg joins our Coon Rapids Clinic Gynecologic Oncology and Surgery team.

“I strive to give patients the most comprehensive and compassionate care with careful attention to each woman’s individual needs and concerns,” Dr. Weinberg says. “I also hope to provide the most evidence-based, up-to-date care possible.”

Dr. Weinberg earned her Bachelor of Science with honors in molecular biology with an emphasis in psychology and women’s studies from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis. She received her medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at University of California in Los Angeles and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University in Chicago, and her fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, OH.

Born and raised in La Crosse, WI, Dr. Weinberg returned to the Midwest to practice in Chicago, IL, after her medical training. Most recently, she practiced gynecologic oncology at Gunderson Health System in La Crosse, WI, before moving to the Twin Cities with her family.

“My husband is from Chicago and we are excited to be back in a metropolitan area,” Dr. Weinberg says. “We enjoy going to music and sporting events.  We have four large dogs and three kids and never lack excitement in our home! I enjoy running and biking and spending time with my family.”

Dr. Weinberg is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Gynecologic Oncology. Her areas of special interest are minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic surgery, sentinel node biopsy, evaluation of women at high-risk for ovarian cancer, and advanced and recurrent ovarian cancer and complex surgery.

 “A new diagnosis of cancer can be overwhelming,” Dr. Weinberg says, “and I hope to provide each woman with the necessary information and guidance to achieve the best outcome possible.”
