Minnesota Oncology is pleased to introduce our newest Advanced Practice Provider (APP), Jennifer Nelson, DNP. Jennifer recently joined our Fridley Clinic team and brings more than 10 years of hands-on nursing experience previous to earning her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree with honors from the University of Minnesota.
Jennifer’s areas of special interest include oncology, adult health, primary care, women’s health, sexual health, cosmetic or reconstructive surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and sports medicine. While pursuing her Doctorate of Nursing Practice, she completed 1,100 hours in variety of adult and women’s health clinical setting. Most recently, she was a nurse practitioner for North Memorial Medical Center’s Comprehensive Pain Management Center in Minneapolis where she was awarded the Population Health & Ambulatory Services Gratitude for Greatness Award.
“My philosophy of care involves providing compassionate and ethical patient care while maintaining a healing environment,” Jennifer says. “I appreciate diversity and the importance of holistic care. Paraphrasing Maya Angelou, ‘People will forget what you said and what you did, however they will never forget how you made them feel.’”
Jennifer was born and raised in a rural Minnesota town. “I enjoy all activities outdoors as well as riding motorcycles and staying fit and active,” she says. “I love to travel and am a self-proclaimed foodie which involves adventures across the city as well as in my kitchen.”
