Philosophy
Cancer is an illness that can be defeated or tamed. My personal background and long experience in oncology have taught me that people have different goals and priorities in life; the optimal cancer treatment needs to be individualized to match the personal goals of each patient – that may not necessarily be the goals of the physician. Understanding my patients’ goals and expectations is very important to me.

Personal
I have a multi-cultural background: I grew up in Italy as part of a mixed Italian and Norwegian family and moved to the United States in 1992. I have lived in the Twin Cities since 1999 and am happy to call it my home.
Before medical school I studied languages. In addition to my native Italian, I speak English, Norwegian, French and a little Spanish.
I love to travel and spend time with family and friends. I enjoy good company and good food – and gardening when it’s not too cold!
Being a good mother is very important to me, along with taking good care of my patients.
